Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri on Friday welcomed at his Ain el-Tineh residence visiting Egyptian Prime Minister Mostapha Madbouli, with whom he discussed cooperation between the two countries, as well as the current political developments.
For his part, Speaker Berri emphasized Lebanon’s need for investments from brotherly countries, including Egypt.
In turn, the Egyptian PM announced that he had conveyed to Berri the greetings of Egyptian President Abdel Fatah al-Sisi and Egypt's full support for Lebanon.
"We have briefed the House Speaker on the topics we’ve discussed with Prime Minister Saad Hariri," he said, adding that he had discussed with the head of Parliament important economic issues, particularly those related to energy and the willingness of his country to support Lebanon in this area.
Berri had previously met with Spanish Foreign Minister, Josep Borrell Fontelles. Discussions focused on the situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as on bilateral relations.
