It seems as if the disgusting chapters of Lebanon’s food safety book have yet to reach their end. We discover day in and day out surprises that could stir the toughest man’s guts.
After the rats in Beirut and Tripoli’s ports, the pigeons at the wheat silos, the rotten sugar, the filthy restaurants and abattoirs as well as the Airport’s ancient, aged 20-year-old goods transferred to the markets, we have now reached the “cockroach in a supermarket” stage.
Attorney Jimmy Hadchiti caught to his dismay a cockroach strutting around on a chocolate shelf at quite a famous Lebanese supermarket.
Oh how lovely it is to eat a chocolate bar with that extra roach flavor.
If the forefront of the supermarket is this neglected, what is there to be found in the storage rooms and fridges?
The fault here lies on the owners of the facility who have failed to contact experts to monitor and abolish any bug infestations.
