In an issued statement on Thursday, Hezbollah condemned "the tearing and burning of a copy of the Holy Qur'an in front of a Stockholm mosque," considering that "the Swedish official authorities are partners and complicit in the crime, as they gave permission to the demonstrators knowing their prior intention to carry out this serious act."
The statement stressed that the recurrence of infringement of the Holy Qur'an in this country and elsewhere cannot be tolerated, deeming that the Swedish government must stop this "bad downward path" instead of hiding behind "freedom of expression and other rosy slogans".
It concluded by calling on the supreme Islamic authorities and institutions and Arab and Islamic governments to "take all appropriate steps that prompt these countries to prevent the recurrence of these follies on their land and to stop spreading the culture of hatred and spite."
