President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture of Tripoli and North Lebanon Toufic Dabbousi, welcomed Minister of Public Works Fayez Rasamny, Chairman and Director General of the Investment Development Authority of Lebanon (IDAL), Dr. Mazen Soueid, and Director General of the Ministry of Public Works, Transport, and the Port of Tripoli, Dr. Ahmad Tamer.
The meeting was attended by members of the Chamber’s board, including Jean El Sayed, Georges Najjar, Mostafa Al-Yamk, and Khodr Habib, as well as a number of business figures such as Hamed Zakaria, Khaled Dabbousi, Ritchie Heikal, and engineer Yasser Dabbousi.
Discussions reportedly focused on the pivotal role of Tripoli Chamber in supporting and developing Lebanon’s public infrastructure through integrated investment and logistical projects aimed at strengthening the country’s economic position in the Eastern Mediterranean.
Talks underscored the significance of a productive public-private partnership in advancing these initiatives.
In turn, Minister Rasamny emphasized that his visit to the Tripoli Chamber was part of efforts to chart a new course for the Tripoli Port and René Moawad Airport in Qlayaat.
"We previously visited the South, and today we are in the North on a tour that includes various regions, particularly those affected by the Israeli aggression and those with economic potential," Rasamny stated.
"In the North, we can focus more on Qlayaat Airport and the Port of Tripoli, for which we have a comprehensive development plan. As you know, we have committed to making Qlayaat Airport operational, and that is why we are discussing this matter at the Tripoli Chamber."
Responding to a question about upcoming projects for the North, Rasamny highlighted the importance of infrastructure improvements, particularly road networks leading to the region.
"We have a project for these roads, in addition to development plans for the Port of Tripoli and Qlayaat Airport. Implementing projects in these key facilities will yield economic benefits and enhance the well-being of citizens," he noted.
On the possibility of administrative appointments in the upcoming Cabinet session on Thursday, Rasamny stated, "Appointments are expected, but we have not yet received any confirmation on this matter."
