Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian contacted Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam, whom he congratulated on his designation to form the new government.
“Dar al-Fatwa endorses and backs the choice of the lawmakers to nominate Judge Salam, on whom the Lebanese are pinning hopes to build the state of law and institutions and find solutions to the crises,” said the Mufti during the phone call.
He also praised Salam’s “academic, judicial, and diplomatic career, as well as his integrity, transparency, and national role that Lebanon needs in this difficult time.”
