The political council of the National Liberal Party held its regular meeting under the chairmanship of MP Camille Dory Chamoun. The main topic discussed was the presidential elections.
The council adopted what had been repeatedly stated by the party's head, as it was one of the first to welcome the election of General Joseph Aoun as president. This support was based on his clean record and integrity, through which he successfully kept the military institution neutral from political conflicts and narrow calculations during Lebanon's critical circumstances. Additionally, given his broad international support, which may enable him to move forward with reconstruction, activate Lebanon’s role and relations with Arab countries and the international community, and restore state sovereignty by implementing international resolutions, the council emphasized the importance of enhancing legitimate institutions and ensuring their smooth operation for the benefit of Lebanon and its people.
