Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati stressed that the Lebanese army “will prove its capacity to assume the missions required from it,” in remarks from the military barracks in Marjayoun on Monday.
“We will hold a meeting with the ceasefire oversight committee, and we have a lot of tasks ahead of us, such as the enemy’s withdrawal from all the territories it has infiltrated during its last aggression,” said Mikati.
“The army has always proven to be the symbol of this nation’s unity, and all the Lebanese stand by its side,” he underlined.
For his part, army chief General Joseph Aoun said: “Despite the poor means, the army remained steadfast in its positions and protected the civilians. We will continue our mission because we believe in what we are doing.”
