Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with French Presidential Envoy Jean-Yves Le Drian, at the Grand Serail, alongside French Ambassador to Lebanon Hervé Magro, and advisors Nicolas Nahas and Boutros Assaker.
Discussions reportedly focused on Lebanon’s situation following the ceasefire and emphasized the urgent need to elect a president.
For his part, Le Drian reiterated French President Emmanuel Macron’s call for timely action, citing the parliamentary session scheduled for January 9 as a critical step.
In related developments, Mikati received calls from Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, and Irish Prime Minister, Simon Harris, who expressed their support for Lebanon’s stability.
Mikati thanked Ireland for its steadfast commitment to UNIFIL’s mission in southern Lebanon in collaboration with the Lebanese Army.
