A Lebanese political source told Reuters that US envoy to the Middle East Amos Hochstein is expected to arrive in Beirut tomorrow on Tuesday, to continue negotiations between Israel and Hezbollah.
According to the source, Hochstein will leave Beirut the same day, heading to Tel Aviv to convey Lebanon's response to the US proposal for a ceasefire. The source noted that Hezbollah views the American proposal as a "foundational framework" for any potential ceasefire agreement but emphasizes that the proposal requires extensive discussion before acceptance.
The source added that Hezbollah "considers the ceasefire agreement text acceptable in principle but believes its wording portrays Israel as the victor, creating a barrier to its approval." While Hezbollah asserts that Israel has "lost the benefit of continued fighting," it seeks to leverage this by adhering to Resolution 1701, maintaining a strong front, and continuing missile launches.
The source further mentioned that Hezbollah insists Israel cannot achieve a decisive victory and is relying on the continuity of both political and military confrontations to achieve its objectives.
