Grand Mufti of the Republic, Sheikh Abdul Latif Derian, met with Acting Health Minister Dr. Firas Abiad at Dar al-Fatwa to discuss healthcare issues.
Dr. Abiad highlighted the Ministry's efforts in securing medications and improving hospital services. "Our visit aimed to update the Mufti on health matters, especially hospitalization and medication," Abiad stated.
The Health Minister also addressed financial challenges faced by hospitals, noting that measures are in place to ensure timely payments. Additionally, Abiad briefed the Mufti on his recent visit to Australia, where the Lebanese diaspora pledged support for public hospitals in the north.
Discussing potential conflicts, Abiad confirmed the Ministry's preparedness and stressed Lebanon's desire for peace.
"We do not seek war; it's crucial for the international community to restrain Israeli aggression," he said.
MP Yassine Yassine also visited to congratulate the Mufti on his return from pilgrimage and discuss national issues, including the presidential vacancy and financial challenges.
