Caretaker Foreign Minister Abdallah Bou Habib held a series of talks with European Union officials in Brussels, during a foreign tour he has organized to pursue Lebanon's efforts to de-escalate border tensions and prevent a full-blown war.
In Brussels, Bou Habib met with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell, over the situation in Lebanon and the broader region, and the EU's possible contribution to defusing tensions in south Lebanon.
Bou Habib later held talks with the ambassadors of the 27 member states of the EU Political and Security Committee. Discussions focused on current situation in Lebanon and the broader region, in addition to the means of supporting Lebanon and its military. Talks also touched on the ongoing diplomatic initiatives aimed at de-escalating the situation within the framework of the political solution.
The foreign minister also met with the chief diplomatic adviser of the President of the European Council, Magdalena Grono.
Bou Habib lastly met with Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations, Gert Jan Koopman, who is set to visit Lebanon next month.
