Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdallah Bou Habib contacted by phone Cypriot Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos expressing “Lebanon’s constant reliance on the positive role that Cyprus plays in supporting stability in the region.”
For his part, the Cypriot Minister affirmed, "the content of the statement issued by the President of the Republic of Cyprus yesterday that his country hopes to be part of the solution and not part of the problem." He stressed that "Cyprus has no intention of getting involved in any way in the ongoing war in the region."
The Cypriot Minister also explained that "the decision to close the Cypriot embassy in Beirut for one day was predetermined for administrative reasons related to the visa system, and it will resume work as usual starting tomorrow."
Both ministers underlined "the depth of the friendly relations between the two countries and the importance of strengthening the bilateral cooperation for the benefit of the two peoples."
