In a firm and cautionary tone, US envoy Amos Hochstein emphasized the necessity of putting an end to the conflict along the Lebanon-Israel border, stating that "the prolonged dispute over both sides of the Blue Line has been ongoing for a long time, and it is in everyone's interest to end the conflict," emphasizing that, according to him "the situation in Lebanon is very delicate"
Hochstein underscored after meeting with Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri at Ain el-Tineh that "the situation on the border between Lebanon and Israel is extremely dangerous, and we need to de-escalate in order to avoid a major war." He added that, "the visit comes under difficult and sensitive circumstances, discussions with the Parliament Speaker constructive, and we discussed the proposed agreement."
Finally he reiterated that the primary goal is "to prevent further escalation between Israel and Lebanon and avoid descending into an open war."
