- Bassil: Israel has not fully implemented the first phase of Resolution 1701 in the past, which is necessary to move forward to the second phase that would lead to a permanent solution
- Bassil: Lebanon is facing a destructive project intended to control it, impose security control over it, violate its sovereignty and resources, destroy its people, land, heritage, and economy, and alter its democratic structure
- Bassil: The required withdrawals from Lebanese territories in the first phase should be limited to the undisputed areas, including the Lebanese part of the town of Ghajar and all other lands occupied by Israel during the 2006 war
- Bassil: We are in favor of implementing Resolution 1701, and we reaffirm our position stating that the Charter and the Constitution will not safeguard or protect Lebanon without the presence of a president who initiates and leads negotiations in light of the dangers threatening the country
