French President Emmanuel Macron called on his American counterpart, Donald Trump, and his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky, to demonstrate "calm and respect" following the verbal altercation in the White House, which raised fears of the United States' withdrawal from the Ukrainian file and a rupture with its European allies.
The French President told the weekly newspaper "La Tribune Dimanche" and several other newspapers published on Sunday, “I see that regardless of the anger, everyone needs to return to calm, respect and appreciation, so that we can move forward concretely because what is at stake is very important.”
The Elysee Palace stated that Macron had spoken since Friday evening with the Ukrainian and American presidents.
