French authorities announced that 10 people were injured, 2 of them in critical condition, in a hand grenade explosion at a bar in Grenoble, southeastern France. Authorities currently ruled out terrorism as the motive for the attack.
Public Prosecutor François Torry de Cossy, during his visit to the explosion site, stated: "A person entered and threw a hand grenade without saying a word, apparently, then fled."
He added to the press: "At this stage, no theory is favored, but we can confidently rule out terrorism as there is nothing to suggest it is related to terrorism." He clarified that the attack "could be related to a settling of scores, in one way or another."
The public prosecutor noted that the attacker also "appeared to be armed with a rifle, but this has not been confirmed yet, and it is not certain that this weapon was used. Clearly, the damage resulted from the hand grenade explosion."
