Taiwanese Defense Minister Wellington Koo confirmed that the country’s national security team is closely monitoring the explosion of thousands of wireless communication devices (beepers) targeting Hezbollah. This follows the involvement of a Taiwanese company with the production of these devices.
The company, "Gold Apollo," based in Taiwan, stated that it did not manufacture the devices used in the attack; rather, they were produced by a Budapest-based company licensed to use its brand name.
Minister Koo told reporters in Taipei that the government is closely monitoring the developments.
He added, without going into details: "Upon receiving the news, I was informed that the relevant national security agencies are giving the matter significant attention at this time." Koo’s comments were made in a statement that was embargoed until today.
