Israeli media reported that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is contemplating the dismissal of Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, potentially replacing him with Gideon Sa’ar, Chairman of the National Unity party.
The report by the public broadcaster Kan, citing an unnamed source within the prime minister’s office, surfaced amid tensions between Netanyahu and Gallant, particularly over issues such as a potential escalation in Lebanon. Gallant reportedly opposes a large-scale invasion of Lebanon at this time.
Netanyahu's office has labeled the reports of a replacement as "incorrect," though they did not address Gallant specifically. Sa’ar has previously denied speculation about returning to Netanyahu’s coalition.
In a post on X, Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir stated that he has been advocating for Gallant’s dismissal for months, calling for it to be done "immediately."
