Secretary General of the Parliament, Adnan Daher, said on Tuesday that today's Parliament session had been adjourned due to lack of quorum. He also made clear that the aforementioned decision was made after a two-hour wait and failure of the parliament to convene and elect members of the parliamentary committees.
In the wake of consultations among members of the Council's Bureau, the following statement was issued:
"The House of Parliament's Bureau, in accordance with the provisions of the internal law, and in light of the current extraordinary circumstances, especially the security situation which has prevented the convening of the legislative session to complete the election of committee members, and based on legal advice by Dr. Edmond Rabat, who has ruled that the current parliamentary committees remained active, the Parliament has decided the following:
1. Considering the current parliamentary committees with all their current members active pending the election of new members.
2. To inform the chairpersons, rapporteurs, and members of the committees of the contents of this decision.
