Association of Banks Head Salim Sfeir said on Saturday that "the Lebanese banks did not witness any unusual movements of funds on Friday and Saturday, after they were closed for two weeks in wake of protests across the country."
In an interview to Reuters, Sfeir considered that the people's reaction was "almost predictable."
"Nevertheless, people are asking a lot of questions. For our part, we have given the most assurances," he asserted.
Sfeir explained that "the positive atmosphere which prevailed over the currency market is the result of cooperation between the Lebanese Central Bank and the Association of Banks, which reassured the Lebanese and depositors."
