A group of demonstrators on Friday stormed the building of the Association of Banks in Gemayze and blocked its main entrance.
"We're here today at the Banks Association, which safeguards the funds of politicians," a statement by a group of demonstrators said.
"Our prime demand is to transfer house and personal loans to the Lebanese Pound so that the poor class doesn't have to pay mortgages in the US dollar," the statement added, requesting as well rescheduling personal loans in a way that the poor segment of the Lebanese society doesn't get abused with high interest rates.
The group of demonstrators also requested the liberation of the Lebanese economy from the US dollar, as well as the retrieval of funds looted by banks and illegal profits.
