Marvel’s first Muslim Avenger Kamala Khan, who goes by the alter-ego of Ms Marvel, is set to have her own video game, it was announced at New York Comic Con.
Marvel and Square Enix announced the news at the convention, and though she has been teased as part of Marvel’s upcoming Avengers, it is the first time that they revealed she is set to be a main character.
The game takes place in a version of the Marvel Universe, and the trailer introduces the young Khan, who develops the power to shapeshift after ‘A Day’ - a calamity event that leads to the Avengers splitting up.
Khan discovers a conspiracy behind 'A Day', and she embarks on a journey to get the team back together and find out who’s behind the disaster.
Fans are beside themselves with happiness
Who is Kamala Khan?
In November 2013 Marvel Comics introduced Kamala Khan, a teenage American Muslim from Jersey City, New Jersey.
Khan took over the comic book series Ms Marvel a year later, and the series, written by G Willow Wilson and drawn by Adrian Alphona marked the first time a Muslim character headlined a book at Marvel Comics.
Daughter of Pakistani immigrants, she’s got a sarcastic personality and a penchant to fangirl over the Avengers - a bit like our favourite neighbourhood Spider-Man.
This won’t be the first time she will appear in a game, and has been in Lego Marvel Super Heroes games and Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3.
