His Holiness, Aram I, Catholicos of the Great House, visited Saturday the Armenian-populated Syrian city of Aleppo, where he presided over a first Devine Liturgy following the restoration of the "Forty Martyrs Armenian Cathedral".
"Syria will remain the land of love, brotherhood and coexistence. Today, we are working together and sharing the reconstruction and prosperity of Syria," Aram I said.
The restoration works began in the Cathedral less than a year ago and included the reconstruction of the shattered facade, the construction of the bell and the restoration of the roofs and halls, and the reopening of the western door that was closed for more than two hundred years.
