At least nine schools in the city of Leipzig in eastern Germany received emails on Monday morning threatening violence, a police spokeswoman said.
"We found out from some schools in Leipzig this morning that they have received an email with threatening content. They were threatened with violence," the police spokeswoman said.
She said police had taken the matter very seriously and deployed officers to the schools. At least nine schools in Leipzig are known to have received the email. It was unclear whether more schools were affected, the spokeswoman added.
