The daughter of Olympic sprinter Tyson Gay has been fatally shot at a restaurant in Kentucky.

 

Trinity Gay, a rising star on the track team is said to have been shot in the neck while eating at a Cook Out branch in Lexington, Kentucky.

 

The Fayette County Coroner said Trinity Gay died of her injuries on Sunday just before 5 am.

 

According to WKYT, a CBS-affliated television station in Lexington, police in Lexington responded to a call that shots had been fired at the restaurant on South Broadway shortly before 4am.

 

The station reports that Trinity Gay was taken to hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck.

 

Authorities are reported to be questioning two persons of interest in the case.
