Croatia's president named Andrej Plenkovic, leader of the conservative HDZ party, as prime minister-designate on Monday.
"Plenkovic has proved he has support of majority of deputies," President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic said after giving a mandate to Plenkovic to form a new Croatian cabinet.
Plenkovic, 46, a former diplomat, now has 30 days to win approval for his cabinet in the parliament.
HDZ, which won 61 out of 151 seats in a snap parliamentary election on Sept. 11, struck a coalition deal with a small center-right reformist party Most (Bridge) last week.
