Former Minister Michel Samaha, who is accused of plotting attacks and transporting explosives from Syria, is back to the forefront following reports claiming he had escaped a plot aiming to assassinate him.
Security sources told al-Joumhouria daily Monday that Military General Prosecution immediately approved the Samaha's request of being transferred to a hospital due to a health setback.
But soon, the approval was retreated upon the instructions of State Prosecutor Samir Hammoud and Minister of Justice Ashraf Rifi who both received information indicating that Samaha might be assassinated given that he possesses confidential data on terror plots concocted by the Syrian regime.
