During his mandate as Minister of Telecommunication, Nicolas Sehnaoui had appointed Lebanese diva Haifa Wehbeh as "Communications Ambassador for Humanitarian issues" with a main priority of raising awareness among Lebanese youth against the use of mobile phones while driving.
"Wehbeh was chosen because she has a large fan base and can influence the public opinion," Sahnaoui justified her designation back then.
It is remarkable that the incumbent Telecom Minister Boutros Harb hasn't so far cooperated with the famed artist to take part in any awareness campaign, benefiting from Haifa's popularity so as to promote humanitarian causes.
As questions aroused regarding Harb's potential rejection of cooperation with the Lebanese diva, a source close to Harb confirmed to MTV website that the latter does not oppose to the honorary post granted to Haifa, stressing that both parties will cooperate when conditions are ripe. The same source also pointed out that the ministry's doors are open to Haifa whenever she feels like "dropping by for a visit."
