Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry is planning a trip to Turkey this weekend for talks with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, on the latest regional developments, including the status of the Gaza ceasefire talks, according to a Turkish diplomatic source cited by Reuters.
The trip comes as Egypt’s foreign ministry says it is working in overdrive to reduce regional tensions, following Iran’s weekend aerial assault on Israel.
Shoukry has also held separate calls with the foreign minister of both Israel and Iran, calling on them to exercise “utmost self-restraint and refrain from provocations”.
