The Association of Banks in Lebanon (ABL) on Thursday issued a statement declaring its decision to go back on strike on Tuesday March 14, 2023.
“The situation has hit a dangerous level that objections and warnings are no longer sufficient. There is a pressing and urgent need for official, executive, monetary, judicial, and legislative authorities to assume their responsibilities and swiftly find comprehensive solutions to this systemic crisis by issuing general laws that bind all banks, the entire financial sector, as well as depositors,” the ABL’s statement read.
“The Association of Banks in Lebanon finds itself forced to go back on strike, starting the morning of Tuesday, March 14, 2023, and demands that swift legal measures be taken to halt the adoption of contradictory measures,” the statement added.
“In order to deal with this crisis in a rational, just, and final manner, the state, in particular, will be held responsible in this regard,” the ABL statement concluded.
