Environment Minister Nasser Yassin affirmed today during his inspection visit to the city of Tripoli and its municipality, that he is working to "find a national strategy for waste in all of Lebanon."
Upon his arrival at the Municipal Palace, he was received by Mayor Riyad Yamaq and municipal members, where they held a working meeting addressing the issue of waste in Tripoli, and the process of sorting from the source, with the possibility of giving incentives to the areas that apply it. Talks also touched on environmental pollution as a result of burning tires.
Yassin explained that the national strategy will try to incorporate the local solutions and ideas for each city or union of municipalities, underlining the need to identify ways to make the strategy succeed in a sustainable way.
On the sidelines of the visit and in response to a reporter’s question about the possibility of the government's resignation, the Environment Minister said: "The government is pursuing its work as every minister is managing his dossiers, whereby the circumstances of the resignation are determined by the Prime Minister."
