President of the Republic, General Michel Aoun, received the Justice Minister, Henry Khoury, on Friday at Baabda Palace.
The President stressed the necessity of activating the role of the Supreme Judicial Council, especially after the appointment of four members and taking the legal oath with the fifth member yesterday.
The meeting also addressed ongoing investigations into the bloody events which took place yesterday in Tayouneh area and the need to expedite their completion to determine responsibilities.
For his part, Minister Khoury expressed his hope that “The Supreme Judicial Council will play its role as it should due to the proper conduct of judicial work, as it is the supervisor of this role”.
President Aoun also met with MP Cesar Abi Khalil and tackled with him current developments and the needs of Aley region.
The President then received Civil Defense Director General, Brigadier Raymond Khattar.
Khattar briefed President Aoun on the measures and procedures taken by the Civil Defense to ensure full readiness to intervene when necessary, and the difficulties it faces.
For his part, President Aoun praised the efforts made by the Civil Defense with all its individuals and volunteers, especially appreciating their role in extinguishing the fuel tank that caught fire in Al-Zahrani facilities a few days ago.
