Parliament Speaker, Nabih Berri, on Tuesday welcomed at the Second Presidency in Ain el-Tineh, President of the National Commission for Lebanese Women (NCLW), Claudine Aoun Roukoz, and members of the Commission’s Executive Bureau.
Speaker Berri underlined in front of the delegation that the approval of women's quota does not tamper with the sectarian balance, but rather reinforce the humanitarian balance.
Berri went on to say that the adoption of a women quota does not constitute a violation of the Taef Agreement.
On the other hand, Speaker Berri received member of the Constitutional Council, Judge Michel Tarazi.
Separately, Berri met with Deputy Prime Minister, Saade Chami, who came on a protocol visit.
The meeting had been an occasion during which they broached the current general situation and the latest developments.
Berri also welcomed Minister of National Defense, Maurice Sleem, with discussions reportedly touching on the general security situation.
