Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Wednesday welcomed at the Grand Serail World Food Program (WFP) regional director, Corinne Fletcher, accompanied by WFP director in Lebanon, Dr. Abdullah Al-Wardat.
Following the meeting, Fletcher said that talks with the Prime Minister mainly focused of the World Food Program’s support to Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
“Today, the WFP is doubling its assistance to the needy Lebanese people through a program of assistance to the poorest families,” Fletcher said.
“Through our other programs, we can extend support to approximately 800,000 Lebanese families by the end of the current year,” she added, expressing the WFP’s full readiness to work with Mikati’s government in support of those mostly in need of assistance.
