Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, Dr. Mohamed Shaker El-Markabi, on Tuesday welcomed his Lebanese counterpart Minister of Energy and Water, Walid Fayad, who visited him with an accompanying delegation.
A statement issued in the wake of the meeting by Egypt’s Ministry of Electricity and Renewable Energy said that the meeting had been an opportunity to present the Egyptian experience in developing its electricity and renewable energy sector and to discuss the best means to bolster cooperation in the energy field between both countries.
“Both sides stressed the importance of beefing up coordination to discuss the possibility of strengthening cooperation within the field of energy between Egypt and fraternal Arab countries to benefit from the Egyptian experience in the field of electrical energy, as well as to exchange views and practice joint cooperation,” the statement read, adding that the meeting also discussed the paramount importance of facilitating the participation of Egyptian companies in electricity projects in Lebanon, leading to the advancement of the Lebanese electricity sector.
