The National Audio-Visual Council of Lebanon (CNA) indicated on Wednesday that it had asked Al Jadeed TV channel to provide it with a talk show episode during which the host insulted Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"Upon the referral of Information Minister Manal Abdel Samad, and following a complaint by the Turkish Embassy in Lebanon against Al Jadeed channel over "Ana Heik" show, hosted by journalist Neshan Derharoutyounian, and during which touched on Turkey and its responsibility regarding the 'Armenian Cause;' and whereas the Turkish Embassy considered that there had been insults against the Turkish people, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and millions of his supporters worldwide, the Council has asked Al Jadeed for the episode during which President Erdogan was offended," CNA Head, Abdel Hadi Mahfouz, said in a statement.
He explained that the request was made in order to review the episode’s content and act accordingly.
He added that the CNA calls for the respect of Lebanon's ties with friendly states.
He also asked Erdogan's fans to keep respectful in their defense of Turkey.
