The Press Office of the Interior and Municipalities Minister, Brigadier General Mohamed Fahmi, explained in an issued statement on Saturday that, in light of the increasing attacks on private property and passers-by in the area where the civil movement's sit-in tents are established, the latest of which was a problem that occurred with a foreign country ambassador, the security forces were compelled to work on removing these tents.
"The Minister of Interior and Municipalities renews his support for the rightful livelihood demands of the peaceful movement, and confirms that what he did in terms of sterilizing the sit-in tents in both the Martyrs' and Riad El-Solh Squares, came in the framework of protecting the peaceful demonstrators from the threat of the coronavirus and as a gesture of goodwill towards them," the statement underlined.
