President of the Republic, General Joseph Aoun, stressed that "the country’s rise is a difficult task, yet not impossible, given the presence of genuine will," emphasizing "the importance of international support for Lebanon, economically and politically."
"We, in turn, must undertake economic, banking and other reforms, in order to regain international confidence," President Aoun stated.
President Aoun’s remarks came during his reception at Baabda presidential palace, the Grand Chancellor and Minister of Foreign and Internal Affairs of the Sovereign Order of Malta Riccardo Paternò di Montecupo, on top of a delegation, including Ambassador of the Sovereign Order of Malta to Lebanon Maria America Cortese, President of the Lebanese Association of the Sovereign Order of Malta Marwan Sehnaoui.
Di Montecupo conveyed to President Aoun the congratulations of the Grand Master of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, John Dunlap, on his election as president of the Republic, and wished him success in his presidential march..
Discussions during the meeting reportedly focused on the general situation and the projects undertaken by the Order of Malta in Lebanon.
