A Kataeb Party delegation visited Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Mar Bechara Boutros Rahi at Bkerke, sent by party leader MP Samy Gemayel, to offer New Year’s greetings.
The delegation included members of the Kataeb Political Bureau, Former Minister Alain Hakim, Lina Jalkh, and Maroun Assaf.
After the meeting, Hakim stated: "We briefed His Beatitude on the most recent updates, emphasizing that the Kataeb Party categorically rejects the provocations occurring in certain Lebanese areas. We warned against the danger of processions and motorcycles circulating in peaceful, populated neighborhoods."
He stressed the need for swift and proactive intervention by security forces to put an end to this phenomenon, noting that the Kataeb Party would confront any escalation in the future.
Regarding the government formation process, Hakim emphasized that the Kataeb Party fully supports the president in the formation efforts and stands with the Prime Minister-designate to form a government free from preconditions or personal considerations, while ensuring a balance among all political parties to establish a functional government that serves the national interest.
Hakim conveyed Patriarch Rahi's confirmation that political positions must be balanced and acceptable.
The Patriarch also expressed hope for the cessation of street provocations, stressing that security must be under the control of the state, represented by the Lebanese Armed Forces and legitimate security forces.
