Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati expressed his gratitude to the International Red Cross for its efforts in securing the release of nine Lebanese detainees held in Israeli prisons; however, the PM further requested the Red Cross to continue working towards the release of the remaining nine Lebanese prisoners still detained in Israel.
Mikati noted that this issue was a key topic in his discussions with the US side during the talks on the Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
In a separate meeting, Prime Minister Mikati met with Minister of Youth and Sports Georges Kallas with whom he discussed ongoing matters related to the ministry.
Minister Kallas expressed his appreciation for Mikati's efforts in maintaining the country's stability and dignity. He also voiced hope that the first government of the new term would be formed soon, enabling the country to move forward with national momentum and restore the trust of the youth in securing their future.
Prime Minister Mikati also held a meeting with MPs Ihab Matar and Mohammad Yehya, with whom he broached various issues of mutual concern.
Additionally, Mikati received the Director General of the General Security, Major General Tony Saliba, along with his deputy, Brigadier General Hassan Choukair.
