Development and Liberation bloc MP Kassem Hachem emphasized that “Prime Minister-designate, Nawaf Salam, has his vision for government formation but must address Lebanon’s political realities.”
In an interview, Hachem confirmed a clear understanding between Salam and the Shiite Duo regarding the Ministry of Finance, calling the matter nearly settled.
Hachem anticipated that the government could form within days if remaining obstacles, unrelated to the Shiite Duo, are resolved.
Addressing speculation about MP Yassin Jaber heading the Finance Ministry, Hashem clarified that Speaker Nabih Berri has multiple qualified candidates, with current names circulating only in the media.
Regarding ministerial distribution, Hashem noted prior agreements among political forces and a draft government lineup prepared by Salam.
On portfolio rotation, Hachem highlighted consensus on maintaining sovereign ministries while rotating service ministries, citing proposals for the "Shiite Duo" to assume Health instead of Public Works, and Industry instead of Agriculture.
