Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri met with Iraq’s Deputy Minister of Trade, Sattar Jabbar Al-Jabri, and his delegation at Ain el-Tineh. The meeting, attended by Iraq’s Chargé d’Affaires in Lebanon, Nada Majoul, focused on bilateral relations and Iraq’s support for Lebanon.
Al-Jabri outlined Iraq’s aid during the Israeli aggression on Lebanon, which included material assistance and hosting displaced Lebanese. He announced Iraq’s plans to deliver 320,000 tons of wheat via land routes once stability is restored in Syria.
Al-Jabri also highlighted Iraq’s ongoing support, noting 57,222 displaced Lebanese were hosted, with 6,000 still residing in Iraq. The delegation’s visit aims to deliver aid to affected areas and Syrian refugees in Lebanon and assess potential projects in education and healthcare for Iraqi government support.
Al-Jabri finally reaffirmed Iraq’s enduring commitment to Lebanon, describing it as a historic and moral duty rooted in shared heritage. He expressed hope for strengthened ties and further aid to support Lebanon’s recovery and development.
