Represented by its Ambassador to Germany Mustapha Adib, and the Agriculture Ministry Director General Louis Lahoud, Lebanon participated in the 17th World Forum on Food and Agriculture and the Berlin International Green Week 2025, in the presence of agricultural ministers and heads of delegations from various parts of the world and international organizations.
The meetings addressed the agricultural conditions, food security, and the fight against global hunger. Additionally, discussions tackled food systems that are resistant to crises and climate changes and friendly to biodiversity, promoting sustainable production and food sovereignty, and developing resilient supply chains. Focus was also pinned on improving international cooperation to achieve sustainable food security.
The Lebanese delegation outlined the challenges facing the agricultural sector in Lebanon, especially the repercussions of the Israeli aggression on agricultural lands, and the severe damage to the sector as a result of the use of destructive weapons, including white phosphorus and cluster bombs.
Lebanon's delegation also touched on the impact of the economic crisis on farmers, calling on the ministries of agriculture and international organizations to support the agricultural sector in Lebanon, particularly with regard to infrastructure, agricultural programs and projects, and opening markets to Lebanese products to enhance the resilience of farmers.
The Agriculture Ministry Director General thanked Ambassador Adeeb and the embassy team for their efforts in preparing for Lebanon’s participation and opening German markets to Lebanese agricultural products in recent years.
Ways to enhance cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture and the Lebanese embassy and expatriate community in Germany were also discussed to increase the export of Lebanese agricultural exports and food industries to German markets.
