Prime Minister-designate Nawaf Salam began his protocol tour with a meeting with outgoing Prime Minister Najib Mikati.
After the meeting, Mikati said: "We discussed the current issues during the session, and our meeting was brief due to his protocol tour, but we agreed to meet later; I wish him success in forming the government."
He added: "I salute the democratic process that took place during the parliamentary consultations and the designation process."
For his part, Salam said: "We agreed to meet again after successfully forming the government, and it was an opportunity to thank him for the efforts he made, especially in the framework of the ceasefire agreement."
