Baabda Palace hosted a high-level US military delegation, led by General Michael Kurilla, Commander of the US Central Command (CENTCOM), accompanied by US Ambassador to Lebanon Lisa Johnson.
The delegation included General Jasper Jeffers, Chair of the Technical Committee for Ceasefire Monitoring, along with senior American officers.
During the meeting, General Kurilla congratulated President Joseph Aoun on his election and discussed enhancing collaboration between the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and the US military, underscoring ongoing US support for Lebanon. Talks also addressed the situation in southern Lebanon and the progress of the Israeli withdrawal plan.
President Aoun expressed gratitude for the visit and praised the "existing cooperation between the Lebanese and American militaries, emphasizing the need for its further development."
The discussions expanded with the participation of UNIFIL Commander General Aroldo Lázaro, Deputy Chair of the Ceasefire Monitoring Committee General Guillaume Bonjean, and Acting Commander of the Lebanese Army Major General Hassan Audi.
The expanded session focused on implementing UN Security Council Resolution 1701 and strengthening coordination between the LAF, UNIFIL, and the monitoring committee to ensure stability in southern Lebanon.
