Newly-elected President General Joseph Aoun received a series of congratulatory phone calls on his election as President of the Lebanese Republic, most notably from President General Michel Sleiman, Marada Movement Leader Sleiman Frangieh, and the head of the Lebanese Democratic Party, former Minister Talal Arslan.
President Aoun also received congratulatory phone calls from King Abdullah II of Jordan, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof, British Defense Minister John Healey, Cypriot Interior Minister Constantinos Ioannou, and a number of army commanders from brotherly and friendly countries.
The President of the Republic also received further congratulatory cables on the occasion of his election and taking the constitutional oath, most notably from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al-Alimi, and President of the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria Abdelmadjid Tebboune. President Aoun also received two congratulatory cables from the Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East John X, and the UNIFIL's Head of Mission and Force Commander, Major General Aroldo Lázaro Sáenz
In his congratulatory cable to President Aoun, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman expressed his sincere congratulations and wished General Aoun success and the brotherly Lebanese people further progress and prosperity.
