Former Minister and Lawyer Ziad Baroud issued the following statement:
"I had announced yesterday that I would not be part of the race in the event of broad national consensus on a presidential candidate. While I extend my gratitude to the honorable MPs who honored me with their support, I officially withdraw my candidacy, pledging to remain one of the many striving for the republic alongside the Lebanese people. I wish the upcoming president all the success."
