Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea issued a statement criticizing the Resistance Bloc, accusing them of dishonesty and political obstinacy regarding the presidential nomination of Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun.
"We once believed the Resistance Bloc might become less reckless and deceitful after the calamities they brought upon Lebanon, but unfortunately, their behavior remains unchanged,” Geagea remarked, highlighting that the bloc has consistently opposed General Aoun’s candidacy, as evident from media leaks, political meetings, and discussions with international envoys over the past years.
Geagea added that the Lebanese Forces had maintained a good relationship with General Aoun, considering him a serious candidate without imposing any veto.
However, the LF chief noted that the Resistance Bloc, alongside the Free Patriotic Movement, effectively blocked his candidacy by assembling a disruptive minority.
Geagea concluded by challenging the bloc to publicly endorse General Aoun’s candidacy, stating, "If they officially declare their support, we are willing to reconsider the matter seriously."
