The Prime Minister Najib Mikati received US presidential envoy Amos Hochstein at the Serail this evening, in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon, Lisa Johnson, and General Jasper Jeffers, head of the Quintet Committee overseeing the ceasefire.
During the meeting, the progress made on the ceasefire since the announcement of the security arrangements was discussed.
The Prime Minister reiterated the demand to stop Israeli security violations of the ceasefire, the ongoing attacks on southern towns, the systematic destruction of homes and facilities, and the violation of Lebanese airspace. He also called for a clear timetable to complete the Israeli withdrawal before the expiration of the 60-day period.
The Prime Minister stated, "The continuation of these violations and the talk of Israel's intention to extend the ceasefire deadline is strongly rejected. We are bringing this issue to the attention of the countries that facilitated the arrangements and the committee responsible for overseeing their implementation."
