MTV sources reported that a Lebanese General Security delegation recently visited Syria and held a positive meeting with Hayat Tahrir al-Sham. During the meeting, they discussed the conditions imposed by Syria on Lebanese citizens, with the Lebanese delegation explaining the reasoning behind Lebanon’s own policies. It was emphasized that there is no reciprocal arrangement, as Lebanon hosts over 3 million Syrian refugees, while there is no comparable Lebanese displacement to Syria. The Syrian side confirmed it has no objections to arrests carried out by Lebanese authorities, provided they comply with legal procedures.
Furthermore, General Security Director General Major General Elias Baissari told MTV that efforts are underway to revise the procedures and conditions established during the Syrian war. Specifically, Lebanon will reconsider its restrictions on Syrian refugees entering the country. A thorough review of individual cases will begin Tuesday morning, aiming to address and adjust the current policies.
